Do you have any tips for tossing my beer can?

Sometimes I can toss my beer can all the way to the back of the minivan, but sometimes it just flies all over the car. How can I get my beer cans all the way to the cargo space every time? Also, I can't switch to bottles because they would become dangerous projectiles in an accident. Safety first.
