Changed oil, now 2002 Triumph Speed Triple pukes oil.?

I was working on my bike, it needed a new stator cover and I figured I would change the oil while I was at it. I swapped stator covers then pulled the Scott's oil filter and cleaned it. I put it back together threw new oil in it, then all hell broke loose. I started her up she was fine then like after five minutes she started blowing smoke and oil was pouring out the overflow. I umed I over filled her but no, the oil level was fine. I restarted the bike and after a minute or so it started doing the samething. Any ideas?
