God creates life but evolution refines it? Do you agree?

For years I thought in a similar way. But then I noticed something wrong with that logic. God focuses on the weak people. He wants us to help the weak, handicapped, ill, etc. But that's the opposite of evolution. In nature, the sick, weak, and handicapped usually die. I'm sure God wants animals and humans to adapt and designed them that way. But survival of the fittest sure doesn't sound like God.
