Plato's political states in the Republic.?

I have to explain the progressive dissolution of states in the Republic Book 8 in relation to the Platonic notion of freedom. My answer should demonstrate the intrinsic connection between Plato's concept of freedom, concept of goodness, and his understanding of knowledge. I have no idea, can someone explain these concepts to me, and relate them to the timocracy, oligarchy, democracy and tyranny?
